Skagen's Vippefyr, Maritime navigational aid in Skagen, Denmark.

The mechanism features a counterbalanced iron basket attached to a wooden beam for raising coal fires above ground to guide ships.

The first Vippefyr was constructed in 1627 to replace an earlier parrot light and remained operational until 1747 when the White Lighthouse took over.

Carl Locher, a member of the Skagen Painters, created the first replica of the original Vippefyr in 1913 for Skagen's 500th anniversary celebrations.

The current reconstruction, installed by Rotary Skagen in 1958, stands at the exact location where the original bascule light operated.

The structure ignites once annually during midsummer festivities on Sankt Hans Aften, accompanied by traditional beach bonfires.
