Château de Kagamiyama, Mountain fortress in Hino, Japan

The Kagamiyama Castle stands on a hilltop with earthen walls and multiple defensive platforms spread across the terrain at 335 meters elevation.

Built in 1609 by Seki Kazumasa, the castle served as a regional administrative center until its demolition in 1618 due to internal conflicts.

The castle town layout remains visible today with three north-south streets and five east-west streets, including preserved samurai residences.

The castle ruins are located behind the former Hino Industrial High School building, accessible through marked walking paths.

The fortress maintained its defensive position for only nine years before its destruction, making it one of the shortest-lived castles in Japanese history.
