Church of St. Anthony of Padua, Kalviai, Catholic church in Kalviai, Lithuania

The Church of St. Anthony of Padua is a circular-shaped building with red granite walls and a central dome topped by a lantern window. This round layout defines the entire structure and sets it apart from typical church designs.

This stone building was constructed between 1800 and 1806 as a replacement for a wooden structure that was destroyed by fire in the previous decade. The rebuilding marked a turning point for the community's religious facilities.

The interior features six Doric columns that frame the organ gallery and shape how the space feels. Wooden altars with neo-gothic and neo-baroque details from the early 1900s add to the visual richness.

The building sits near Kalviai Lake and is easy to reach. The red granite exterior can look different depending on the light, so visiting at different times of day offers different views.

It is one of only two circular sanctuaries in Lithuania and shows architectural influences from Roman rotundas. This rare building style makes it a notable example of classical architecture principles in a northern European setting.
