Bubliai Reservoir, reservoir in Lithuania
Bubliai Reservoir is an artificial lake in the Kėdainiai region of Lithuania, created by damming the Obelis River. It spans about one and a half square kilometers with shores that are low and straight, surrounded by farmland and narrow strips of trees.
The dam was built in 1980 to manage water flow and provide water for local agriculture and use. In 2002, a small hydroelectric plant was added to generate electricity for nearby communities.
The reservoir takes its name from a nearby village and has become a gathering place for local communities. People in the region use it for fishing and leisure, showing how much this body of water is woven into the rhythm of daily life.
The reservoir has easy-to-reach, low shores that work well for walking and fishing. The area is not crowded, offering quiet spots to spend time, and is accessible from nearby roads with plenty of space to explore.
A small hydroelectric plant at the dam generates power from water flowing through, which is uncommon for a body of water this size. This facility partly powers nearby communities.
