Carev Vrv

Carev Vrv is a summit in the Osogovo Range rising to 2,085 meters, making it the second highest peak in the Northeastern Region of North Macedonia. The mountain features steep slopes surrounded by forests and alpine meadows that change character with the seasons.

The mountain served as a natural boundary marker between different territories throughout centuries, influencing how the region was mapped and how borders were defined. Its location in a frontier area made it a recognized landmark for trade routes and regional connections.

Local communities view the mountain as part of their regional identity and occasionally gather for hiking events during warmer months. These occasions bring people from nearby villages together and reinforce their connection to the landscape.

The summit is reached via marked trails starting from Kriva Palanka with varying difficulty levels to suit different hiking abilities. Winter climbing demands extra equipment for snow and ice, while warmer months provide better conditions for most walkers.

On clear days the summit offers views reaching across three countries: North Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Serbia, creating a natural observation point. This cross-border vista is one of the reasons experienced hikers undertake the climb.
