Lagård cemetery

Lagård is a cemetery in Stavanger with two connected sections linked by a tunnel and multiple access points from neighboring streets. The grounds contain numerous burial plots arranged across planted areas.

This burial ground was founded in 1834 and experienced expansions over the following decades to accommodate increasing burials. A major shift occurred when railway development prompted significant reorganization in the mid-1800s.

The grounds preserve original kerbstone enclosures around burial plots, a rare surviving example of this traditional design approach in Norway. These boundary frames offer a glimpse into historical burial customs and can be noticed while walking through.
