The Raufoss manufacturing complex spans multiple buildings dedicated to ammunition production and includes testing ranges across an expansive industrial park north of Oslo.
Founded in 1896 as Rødfoss Patronfabrik, the facility began manufacturing ammunition for Norwegian Armed Forces and operated under the Ministry of Defence until 1948.
Multiple generations of local families have worked at the facility, creating a strong industrial identity within the Raufoss community over more than a century.
The facility maintains strict security protocols, with specific entrances for deliveries and complete prohibition of hazardous materials unless authorized for production purposes.
The complex contains over 20 specialized test ranges for evaluating ammunition and rocket motor performance, making it one of Norway's largest defense industry facilities.
