Stångehuvud nature reserve, Nature reserve near Lysekil, Sweden
The red granite cliffs of Stångehuvud shape the coastal landscape and display marks from glacial activity during the last ice age period.
The area underwent extensive granite quarrying operations for 50 years in the late 1800s until Calla Curman purchased sections of land for preservation.
The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences received the land as a donation from Calla Curman in 1925 to maintain it as a natural monument.
The Victoria Path on Galleberget cliff provides an adapted walkway for visitors to explore the geological formations and observe local plant species.
The reserve contains the southernmost occurrence of Bohus granite, which formed 920 million years ago and now serves as a testament to geological processes.
