Pa Sak Jolasid Dam, Embankment dam in Nong Bua, Thailand
Pa Sak Jolasid Dam is an embankment dam in the Nong Bua district of Lopburi province that holds back the Pa Sak River. The structure consists of a high earthen fill with a broad spillway on its eastern side.
Planning work began back in the 1960s when engineers examined different sites along the river. Construction started in 1994 and was completed five years later.
Locals fish along different sections of the shoreline while small boats drift slowly across the calm water. The area has become a popular weekend retreat where families picnic and enjoy the wide expanse of water.
Access is via the main highway running through Lopburi, with signs pointing the way to the facility. There is parking at the base of the structure and basic facilities for visitors.
The reservoir changes appearance depending on the season: in spring the water reaches nearly up to the crest, while in autumn it sometimes retreats far back. On dry days small islands emerge that attract birds and occasional fishermen.
