The zoo opened its doors in June 1978, expanding from an initial 200 acres to accommodate animals transferred from the Dusit Zoo.

Visitors can explore the grounds from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM daily, with scheduled elephant shows at 11:00 AM and 2:30 PM.
The zoo maintains specific research projects focusing on endangered species like the Lesser Adjutant Stork and Clouded Leopard.
