Ananda Mahidol Hospital

Ananda Mahidol Hospital is a hospital and historic building in Khao Sam Yot, Thailand. Its structure features reinforced concrete walls with arched ceilings and a balanced rectangular floor plan divided across two levels.

Field Marshal Plaek Pibul Songkram launched construction in 1937 as part of relocating government offices from Bangkok to Lopburi. The project was among the first modern infrastructure investments the city received during that period.

The building blends Neo-Classical and Art Deco design elements that reflect how Thai architects imagined modern healthcare facilities in the late 1930s. Walking through its halls, you can see these stylistic choices in the curved lines and balanced proportions throughout the structure.

The hospital operates as both a military and public health facility offering emergency and outpatient services. Keep in mind it functions as an active medical institution, so access to certain areas may be restricted.

In 2008, the Association of Siamese Architects Under Royal Patronage awarded it the Architectural Conservation Award. This recognition highlighted how successfully the building's modern 20th-century design had been maintained.
