Wallace Monument, Victorian Gothic tower in Stirling, Scotland

The National Wallace Monument stands 67 meters tall on Abbey Craig, featuring a sandstone construction with a crown-shaped viewing gallery at its summit.

The tower was completed in 1869 after an eight-year construction period, costing £18,000 and received funding contributions from international donors including Giuseppe Garibaldi.

The Hall of Heroes inside the monument contains busts of notable Scottish figures and displays the Wallace Sword, a 1.63-meter longsword weighing three kilograms.

Visitors reach the observation gallery by climbing 246 steps through a spiral staircase, which provides views across the Ochil Hills and Forth Valley.

The location on Abbey Craig marks the position where William Wallace observed King Edward I's army before the 1297 Battle of Stirling Bridge.
