Longwood trolleybus turntable, Public transit turntable structure in Longwood, Huddersfield, England.
The turntable stood at the foot of Dod-Lea Lane, allowing trolleybuses to make complete directional changes through manual rotation of the platform.
The turntable began operations on September 1, 1939, but ceased functioning by 1940 due to wartime conditions and remained in place until 1985.
The site exemplifies the transformation of public transportation in British towns, marking the transition from trams to trolleybuses in the mid-20th century.
The structure measured approximately 20 meters in diameter and required physical strength from operators to rotate the platform with vehicles.
This infrastructure represents one of only four trolleybus turntables ever built worldwide, with two in Britain and others in Germany and Mexico.
