Margam Abbey, Cistercian monastery ruins in Margam, Wales.

The remaining structure features Norman architectural elements, including a preserved nave that continues to function as a parish church.

Founded in 1147 by Robert of Gloucester, the monastery operated until 1536 when Henry VIII ordered its dissolution during the reformation period.

The monastery produced the Annales de Margan, a manuscript chronicling historical events from 1066 to 1232, including references to King Arthur.

The twelve-sided chapter house and additional ruins stand within Margam Country Park, which extends across 840 acres of land.

A centuries-old beech tree growing among the abbey ruins received the Welsh Tree of the Year award in 2020.
