The Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology spans three floors, containing artifacts that document two million years of human civilization and cultural development.
The institution opened its doors in 1884 as the Museum of General and Local Archaeology, incorporating collections from the Cambridge Antiquarian Society.
The museum exhibits a 14-meter totem pole from Canada, ancient samurai armor from Japan, and freeze-dried potatoes from Peru dating back 500 years.
Located on Downing Street, the museum operates Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Sundays from 12:00 to 17:00 with free admission.
The museum houses the Trumpington Cross, discovered in an Anglo-Saxon burial of a teenage girl three miles from the current museum location.
