Tyne Bridge, Road bridge in Newcastle upon Tyne, England.

The steel arch bridge spans 531 feet across the River Tyne, connecting Newcastle and Gateshead with its granite towers and double-deck roadway.

King George V inaugurated the bridge on October 10, 1928, when it held the record as the longest single-span bridge in the world.

The bridge serves as the centerpiece of the Great North Run, where 52,000 participants cross while Red Arrows perform aerial displays overhead.

The structure carries 70,000 vehicles daily between Newcastle and Gateshead, making it a primary transportation route in northeast England.

The bridge towers house 700 pairs of black-legged kittiwakes, forming the farthest inland nesting colony of these seabirds in the world.
