St Mary's Cathedral, Gothic Revival cathedral in Aberdeen, Scotland
St Mary's Cathedral features a tall spire, ornate stained glass windows, and detailed stonework that exemplifies nineteenth-century ecclesiastical architecture in Scotland.
The cathedral, designed by Alexander Ellis, opened its doors in 1860 and received its spire and bells through Robert Gordon Wilson's additions between 1876 and 1877.
The cathedral maintains four monuments dedicated to Scottish bishops, with Bishops John MacDonald and Colin Grant interred within the sacred grounds of the building.
Located at 20 Huntly Street, the cathedral holds daily services Monday through Saturday, with multiple Mass schedules on Sundays for different congregations.
The cathedral houses an 1887 James Conacher organ and contains a distinctive stained glass window created by David Gulland depicting St John Ogilvie.
