Science and Industry Museum

The Science and Industry Museum spans multiple buildings, featuring extensive displays about transport, power generation, sanitation, textiles, communications, and computing technologies.

The museum occupies the site of the world's first passenger railway station from 1830, which operated as part of the Liverpool & Manchester Railway.

Each year, 830,000 visitors explore the exhibitions that demonstrate Manchester's technological achievements and contributions to scientific advancement through the centuries.

Visitors can watch demonstrations of operational steam engines, diesel engines, hydraulic pumps, and spinning machines during scheduled times throughout their visit.

The museum maintains a collection of functioning industrial machines from different periods, allowing guests to experience the evolution of manufacturing processes firsthand.
