Carlisle railway station, Railway station in Carlisle, England
The railway station features eight platforms with three through tracks and five bay platforms within a neo-Tudor architectural design by William Tite.
Construction of the station commenced before the first services in September 1847, with completion occurring the following year as a major transportation hub.
The station derives its name from the adjacent Carlisle Citadel, a former medieval fortress that influenced the development of the local area.
Located 102 miles southeast of Glasgow Central and 299 miles northwest of London Euston, the station serves as a connection point for multiple rail routes.
The facility received Grade II* listed status and maintains its original Victorian glass roof structure, renovated between 2015 and 2018.
