Lacy's Caves, Man-made caves in the United Kingdom

Lacy's Caves are a series of five chambers carved out of sandstone along the River Eden.

They were commissioned by Colonel Samuel Lacy of Salkeld Hall in the 18th century.

The caves are named after their creator, reflecting the era's fascination with follies.

Located near Little Salkeld, they are accessible by a public footpath from the village.

Legend suggests that the caves were used for wild parties by Lacy and his friends.
