Lord Hill's Column, Doric memorial column in Shrewsbury, England

The monument reaches 133 feet and 6 inches in height, featuring a 17-foot statue at its summit made from Coade stone material.

The construction began in December 1814 and concluded on June 18, 1816, marking the first anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

The column honors General Rowland Lord Hill, a British military commander who served during the Napoleonic Wars and later became Commander-in-Chief of the British Army.

Visitors can climb 172 steps inside the column through a cantilevered spiral staircase that provides access to observation points.

The structure incorporates Grinshill stone from local quarries and stands wider in diameter than London's Nelson's Column at Trafalgar Square.
