Martin's Meadows

Martin's Meadows spans 4 hectares of land containing three meadows with diverse wildflowers, ancient hedgerows, and traditional orchards growing local fruit varieties.

The meadows have maintained their original state through centuries, without exposure to modern agricultural practices such as fertilization, spraying, or drainage systems.

The reserve implements traditional farming methods including summer hay cutting followed by sheep grazing to preserve the natural flower-rich meadow ecosystem.

Visitors can access the reserve through a five-bar gate on Rookery Road in Monewden, with the optimal viewing period occurring between March and June.

The meadows display four different orchid species and meadow saffron, growing alongside century-old hedges containing field maple, hazel, hawthorn, and spindle trees.
