St Wilfrid's Church, Mobberley, Grade I listed medieval church in Mobberley, England.
St Wilfrid's Church is a medieval church building in English Gothic style with a continuous nave and chancel beneath a single slate roof. The structure features narrow side aisles flanking the main space and a west tower that defines the Gothic character.
The oldest portions of the church date to 1245, representing its earliest phase of construction. The current tower was rebuilt after the original detached structure became unstable and needed replacing by 1533.
The church displays medieval angels carved on corbels holding various musical instruments in their hands. These carvings blend religious art with the musical traditions that were part of local life.
The church is readily accessible to visitors throughout the year and welcomes those who wish to look around. It is helpful to check when services take place to avoid disrupting worship or finding the doors locked.
Inside the church stands a rood screen from 1500 featuring intricate carvings including the face of a Green Man. The screen also displays coats of arms belonging to local families, showing their connection to the building.
