St Stephen's, Gloucester Road, Anglican church building in South Kensington, England
St Stephen's stands at the intersection of Gloucester Road and Southwell Gardens, featuring a six-bay nave, chancel, and double transepts with tracery patterns.
Built between 1866 and 1867 by architect Joseph Peacock, the church emerged during the rapid expansion of Kensington following the Great Exhibition of 1851.
The church maintains traditional Anglican worship practices with services accompanied by professional choir performances and distinctive architectural elements from the Victorian period.
The structure includes an octagonal vestry with a turret, multiple stained glass windows, and galleries designated for the choir and organ installations.
T.S. Eliot resided in the church vicarage from 1933 to 1940 and served as churchwarden for 25 years, integrating this religious space into his spiritual journey.
