St Kentigern's Church, Medieval church ruins in Lanark, Scotland

The stone structure features a south wall with lancet windows, a three-order doorway, and an arcade of six broad pointed arches upon cylindrical piers.

King David I granted this religious site to Dryburgh monastery in 1150, and Pope Gregory VIII extended protection to the church in 1228.

The church holds medieval graveslabs on its west gable, relocated during the wall reconstruction of 1872, preserving important Scottish funerary art.

Located at Hyndford Road in Lanark at 220 meters above sea level, the church measures 24.4 meters by 7.3 meters with walls standing at full height.

The elongated rectangular door in the east end, added in the late 17th century, leads to the Lockharts of Cleghorn family mausoleum.
