Japanisches Palais, Baroque palace in Neustadt district, Dresden, Germany

The Japanese Palace features four symmetrical wings surrounding a courtyard, with curved roofs and Chinese-inspired decorative elements on its exterior walls.

Augustus the Strong commissioned the palace in 1715 to display his Japanese porcelain collection, leading to multiple expansions between 1729 and 1731.

The palace houses three distinct institutions: the Museum of Ethnology, the State Museum for Pre-History, and the Senckenberg Natural History Collections.

Visitors can reach the palace at Palaisplatz 11 via tram line 9, with exhibitions open Tuesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

The Damascus Room within the Ethnological Museum presents an authentic Middle Eastern interior, displaying traditional Syrian craftsmanship and design.
