Saint Thomas Church, Cultural heritage church in Gruna, Dresden, Germany
Saint Thomas Church features Romanesque Revival architecture with a prominent south tower, constructed using facing bricks according to Christian Gottfried Schramm designs.
The church foundation was laid in 1891 through donations from two Gruna citizens, with construction costs reaching 34,000 marks before its dedication in 1892.
The interior displays Edmund Moeller's marble altar reliefs from 1934, depicting two theological themes created in Untersberg marble through detailed craftsmanship.
The renovated sanctuary accommodates 350 worshippers and contains a Jehmlich organ from 1952, equipped with two manuals, one pedal, and 1016 functioning pipes.
Three steel bells, cast in Bochum in 1921, survived the World War II destruction when the church burned down to its outer walls.
