Fuggerei Schwäbisch Gmünd, Heritage building in Schwäbisch Gmünd, Germany.

The two-story half-timbered house stands at Münsterplatz in the old town, featuring traditional German architectural elements and detailed wooden craftsmanship.

Between 1601 and 1616, the building belonged to Anton Fugger, son of Georg Fugger, and in 1636 it served as quarters for Emperor Ferdinand.

The structure evolved from a weapons factory to an orphanage, then transformed into a prison for the Oberamtsgericht Gmünd in 1823.

Restaurant Krietsch within the Fuggerei offers regional cuisine and daily lunch specials, with Master Chef Marcus Krietsch leading the kitchen since 1996.

A 14th-century bust of Saint Elisabeth, originally from this building, is now preserved in the Museum im Prediger.
