Tannenbusch Dunes, Protected area in Tannenbusch district, Bonn, Germany.

The inland dune area extends across seven hectares within an urban settlement, featuring sand-based soil and sparse vegetation adapted to dry conditions.

The dune formation occurred 10,000 years ago when strong winds transported sand from the Rhine River, creating a structure originally 600 meters wide.

The biological station of Bonn organizes educational activities with schools and kindergartens to promote environmental awareness among local residents.

Visitors must stay on marked paths, keep dogs on leashes, and remove pet waste to protect the delicate sandy grassland ecosystem.

This nature reserve contains one of the few remaining inland dunes in Germany, supporting rare plant species like sand vetch and silver grass.
