Frederik's Church, Church building in Frederiksstaden, Denmark

Frederik's Church is a church building in Frederiksstaden featuring a massive copper dome spanning 31 meters across. The structure rests on twelve columns and is constructed from limestone blocks that create a solid framework.

Construction began in 1749 under architect Nicolai Eigtved, but the project stalled and remained incomplete for many years. It finally opened to the public in 1894.

The church features statues of important Danish figures and shapes the character of the Frederiksstaden neighborhood. Visitors notice the ornate Baroque and Rococo details that run throughout the building's interior and exterior.

The building is open most days of the week with varying times depending on the day. Visitors can use an elevator to reach the dome top and view the city from above.

An elevator takes visitors to the top of the highest church dome in Scandinavia with panoramic views across the entire city. This viewpoint is often an unexpected highlight for travelers.
