StreetMekka, Indoor street sport center in Kongens Enghave district, Copenhagen, Denmark
StreetMekka is an indoor center dedicated to street sports located in the Kongens Enghave district, covering about 2,200 square meters (23,600 square feet) of space. The facility divides into separate areas for skateboarding, parkour, dancing, bouldering, and ice skating, with additional rooms for music and art workshops.
The center opened in October 2010 after a former tram maintenance workshop was converted into an active venue for the community. This transformation showed how unused industrial spaces could serve street sports enthusiasts and young creative people.
The place draws people who love street sports and artistic expression together in one space for practice and connection. You see skateboarders, parkour athletes, and dancers using the facilities daily while workshops bring musicians and artists into the same environment.
The location sits next to the Copenhagen Skatepark on Enghavevej and is reachable by several public transit stops nearby. When you arrive, the large windows and open spaces make it easy to find your way around, and each zone is clearly marked.
The building wraps itself in a clear polycarbonate shell that lets natural light in during the day and transforms into a projection screen for local artists at night. This design feature makes the center stand out both as a practical space and a visual landmark in the neighborhood.
