Øhavsstien, Hiking trail in South Funen Archipelago, Denmark.
Øhavsstien is a hiking trail that runs approximately 220 kilometers through coastal paths, fields, and forests across the South Funen Archipelago. The route connects four main islands and takes you through diverse landscapes with constant views of the sea.
The trail was completed in 2007 and links several historical sites throughout the region. Along the route you can find important locations like the 18th-century town of Ærøskøbing and the medieval Broholm Castle.
The route passes through traditional Danish villages where you see local building styles and how island communities are organized. Each settlement along the way reflects the character of life in this coastal region.
The trail is divided into seven sections marked with blue pictograms to help you navigate easily. Maps are available at tourist offices and in boxes positioned along the route.
The network crosses four main islands while staying close to the Baltic Sea, giving hikers regular views of the water throughout their walk. This blend of island-hopping and coastal proximity creates something special in Scandinavian hiking.
