Marsk Tower, Observation tower in Skærbæk, Denmark
Marsk Tower is an observation structure made of weathering steel that rises 25 meters above the ground in Wadden Sea National Park. The building features double helix staircases and provides visitors with changing views of the flat landscape at different heights.
The tower was designed and built in 2021 by architect Bjarke Ingels Group to support tourism in southern Jutland. Its completion marked a modern approach to exploring this flat, natural region.
The tower functions as an architectural centerpiece within Marsk Camp, connecting visitors to the surrounding landscape through elevated perspectives of the region.
Visitors can reach the viewing platform via 272 spiral steps or use a central elevator for easier ascent. The location in the national park allows for sweeping views of the surrounding area on clear days.
The sight lines vary with height: roughly 4 kilometers from ground level to about 18 kilometers from the summit. On clear days, visitors can spot the North Sea and the distant city of Esbjerg from the top.
