Castell de l'Aranyó

Castell de l'Aranyó is a stone fortress that rises on rock formations at approximately 465 meters in elevation, displaying Romanesque and late Gothic architectural elements. Its walls and towers show a blend of these styles, reflecting different periods of construction and renovation.

The castle was first mentioned in documents from the 14th century and originally served as a defensive stronghold. Through renovations in 1569, it was transformed into a residential palace.

The castle holds the status of a Cultural Asset of National Interest and is protected as Bien de Interés Cultural. This recognition reflects its importance to Spanish heritage and regional identity.

The structure requires regular maintenance due to frequent stone detachments from its facade, and barriers restrict access to certain areas for safety reasons. Visitors should exercise caution when exploring the outer areas.

Near the castle stand two large natural rock formations known as els pallers de pedra, which serve as geological landmarks. These formations are connected to local traditions and folk tales.
