Castillo de Luna, Fortified palace in Rota, Spain.

The Castillo de Luna features a rectangular layout with five perimeter towers and a Gothic central courtyard decorated with Mudéjar-style baseboards.

Built by the House of Arcos during their jurisdiction, the castle received its name from the marriage of Pedro Ponce de León to a daughter of Álvaro de Luna.

The structure now functions as Rota's city hall, marking a transformation from its origins as a medieval stronghold to a center of municipal administration.

Located in the heart of Rota, the castle underwent extensive restoration work from 1987 to 1999, making it accessible for contemporary administrative purposes.

The castle stands on the possible site of a former Muslim ribat known as Rabita Ruta, which derives from the Latin term Speculum Rotae.
