Langley Castle, Medieval castle in Haydon, England

The stone fortress stands with four corner towers in an H-shaped layout, rising four floors high in the South Tyne River valley.

The castle construction began in 1364 under Sir Thomas de Lucy, following the destruction of an earlier manor house on the property.

The structure underwent transformation from military stronghold to modern hotel, preserving medieval architectural elements through centuries of English history.

Located 3 miles south of Haydon Bridge, the castle functions as a hotel surrounded by 10 acres of woodland estate.

The south tower contains twelve garderobes distributed across four levels, making it an exceptional example of medieval sanitary engineering.
