The brick octagonal tower stands 18 meters tall on the Norfolk coast, with its light positioned 84 meters above the sea level.
The current lighthouse, constructed in 1833, replaced earlier structures that guided ships, including a light displayed from Cromer parish church tower.
Two women served as the first lighthouse keepers, earning one pound per week, marking an early instance of female maritime employment.
Trinity House maintains and operates the lighthouse remotely from their Planning Centre in Harwich, Essex, with a light range of 21 nautical miles.
The structure became the only Trinity House lighthouse to use town gas for illumination when it transitioned to this fuel source in 1905.
