King's Manor, Grade I listed manor house in Exhibition Square, York, England
The King's Manor features multiple courtyards with mullioned windows, brick walls, and stone details spread across interconnected medieval buildings.
The structure began as an abbot's residence in the eleventh century before becoming the headquarters for the Council of the North in 1539.
The University of York's Department of Archaeology conducts research and education programs within the medieval halls of King's Manor.
The building stands near Bootham Bar, with student facilities and a café in the former Council Chamber open during university hours.
In 1541, King Henry VIII and Queen Catherine Howard spent twelve days at the manor during their northern progress through England.
