Old Man's Bridge, Historic footbridge in Thames Valley, England

The wooden footbridge spans the River Thames, connecting both banks with a steep trestle design featuring five distinct openings and a height of 14 feet.

Constructed in 1894, this footbridge replaced an earlier structure that stood near Old Man's Weir, also known as Harper's Weir, which had deteriorated beyond safe use.

The area around the bridge held historical importance as a crossing point between towns, with nearby inns that were centers of local social gatherings.

The bridge provides pedestrian access across the Thames between Rushey Lock and Radcot Lock, serving as a connection point for walkers exploring the riverside paths.

The bridge location features a large open pool underneath that has maintained its status as a local swimming spot since the early twentieth century.

Official opening: 1894
