Robin Hood's Well, Grade II listed well house in Burghwallis, England

The limestone well house features arched entrances and stands next to the A1 road, marking a former spring location in South Yorkshire.

Sir John Vanbrugh designed this structure in 1710 for the Earl of Carlisle, making it one of the smallest buildings created by the architect.

The spring received its name from the Earl of Carlisle to establish connections with the Robin Hood legend, reflecting regional folklore traditions.

The structure underwent relocation in 1960 due to road construction and received additional support through a stainless steel frame in 1993.

An elderly attendant once provided water to travelers at this location, where a nearby inn offered additional refreshments to passersby.
