St Peter's Church, Bournemouth

St Peter's Church is a Gothic Revival building with a 202-foot spire and ornate interior decoration. The space features stained glass and painted wall surfaces created by well-known artisans that shape and define the interior.

Construction began in 1855 as the town was expanding, designed by a leading Victorian architect to serve the community. The building replaced an earlier place of worship that stood in the same location.

The church serves as a gathering place for worship and community, with an active choral program that has been central to its religious life for generations. People come together regularly for services and musical events that define the spiritual rhythm here.

The building is open to visitors during daytime hours, with additional times on Sundays for services. It is easily reached from the town center and welcomes people to step inside and look around.

The church holds the remains of a famous author who wrote Frankenstein, one of the world's most influential novels. Also resting here is the heart of a renowned Romantic poet, a curious and moving detail of the building's past.
