St Mary the Virgin's Church, Walney

St Mary the Virgin's Church is a Gothic Revival structure built from sandstone with five bays and transepts on Walney Island. Large stained glass windows and tall clerestory windows define its exterior appearance.

The church was built between 1907 and 1908 to replace an older 1852 structure as the local population grew rapidly. It reflects the period's need to expand religious buildings to serve expanding communities.
