King's Bastion, Limestone military bastion in Gibraltar, United Kingdom

The King's Bastion extends from the Line Wall Curtain toward the Bay of Gibraltar, featuring an arrowhead shape and thick defensive walls.

Built in 1773 under Lieutenant-general Sir Robert Boyd's supervision, the bastion served as a command post during the Great Siege of Gibraltar in 1782.

The structure transformed from a military fortification into a modern leisure center, representing the evolution of Gibraltar's social development through centuries.

The King's Bastion Leisure Centre contains ice skating facilities, cinema screens, arcade games, and historical information displays about the fortification.

From this position, soldiers launched the first hot potatoes against Spanish floating batteries during the territory's defense operations.
