Sartai Regional Park

Sartai Regional Park is a protected area covering around 4,800 hectares in northeastern Lithuania, featuring multiple lakes, forests, and diverse ecosystems. The landscape encompasses lakes, woodlands, and wetlands that create varied natural environments throughout the park.

The park was established in 1992 as a protected area, marking an important commitment to preserving the region's natural heritage and ecological systems. This designation reflected the growing focus on environmental conservation in Lithuania during that period.

The park hosts traditional winter horse races on frozen Lake Sartai each February, bringing together riders and onlookers from the surrounding region. This event reflects the local connection to horses and the seasonal rhythm of the landscape.

Marked trails wind through the park for hiking, bird watching, and nature exploration. The best conditions for walking are in warmer months, while winter transforms the landscape and creates different opportunities for outdoor activities.
