Bukollen, Mountain summit in Flå Municipality, Norway
Bukollen is a mountain summit in Flå Municipality that rises approximately 800 meters and has steep sides on its slopes. The peak offers broad views looking out across the Vassfaret region and its surrounding landscape.
This mountain area served as a significant hunting region where brown bears lived until the mid-20th century. The last bear in the area was shot in 1956.
Norwegian authors Edvard Elsrud and Mikkjel Fønhus documented the mountain's natural elements in their literary works, including the book 'Bjørnejakt i Vassfaret'.
Hiking trails to the summit begin from different starting points in the surrounding area. The southern route through Vidalen has road access, making it easier to approach from the towns of Hedalen and Nes.
The Bukollgrasingen area on this mountain was a place where brown bears dug their winter dens in the transitional zones between forest and rocky slopes. This habitat supported the bears before they disappeared from the region.
