Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sosnowiec

The cathedral features a prominent central tower with a pyramidal spire and a smaller bell tower, constructed entirely from red brick in Gothic style.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1893 under architect Karol Kozłowski and reached completion in 1899, receiving its consecration in October 1910.

The interior displays a neo-mannerist main altar with a painting of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary created by Włodzimierz Tetmajer in the early 1900s.

The cathedral holds regular services with Sunday masses at 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 16:00, and 18:00, while weekday services occur at 7:00, 8:00, and 18:00.

The cathedral includes a lower church that functions as a crypt containing the tombs of Sosnowiec bishops and survived a major fire in 2014.
