Вознесенская церковь

The Ascension Church is a Russian Orthodox church in Ivanovo featuring three altars and a distinctive bell tower with a passage arch facing Voznesenskaya Street. The stone building displays Russian Revival architectural style typical of the region's 19th century constructions.

Local merchants commissioned the church in 1848, with plans created by Konstantin Ton, the renowned architect of Moscow's Christ the Savior Cathedral. The construction reflected Ivanovo's development during a period of regional industrial growth.

The church was built by local merchants and served as a gathering place for Ivanovo's expanding community of believers. It drew worshippers from surrounding villages and held significant meaning for the region's faithful.

The church is located on Voznesenskaya Street in central Ivanovo and is easily accessible on foot. Visiting conditions should be checked in advance since the building's current use and accessibility may vary.

In 1912, church warden D.V. Makarov built an Iverskaya chapel within the northeastern tower of the church's enclosure wall. This addition shows how the faithful continued to expand their place of worship.
