Собор Покрова Пресвятой Богородицы, Orthodox cathedral in Mineralnye Vody, Russia
The Pokrov Cathedral is an Orthodox church in Mineralnye Vody with nine domes and a two-story brick structure that rises in the city center. A bell tower with eight bells complements the building and makes it visible from a distance.
Construction began in 1992 after Metropolitan Gedeon consecrated the site. The official dedication ceremony took place in 1997, marking the completion of this religious center.
The interior displays a four-tier iconostasis crafted by artisans under Mikhail Sidorenko, with frescoes painted by Moscow artists following academic traditions. These works form the spiritual center of the space and guide the eye through the sacred interior.
The church stands in an easily accessible location in the city center where visitors can walk to it readily. It is advisable to check hours before visiting, as daily services take place at scheduled times.
The building houses the relics of Saint Theodosius of the Caucasus, originally kept in another church. These sacred remains were brought here in 1998 and make this place significant for pilgrims.
