The Dniester River source emerges at an elevation of 818 meters near Vovche village, forming a small stream surrounded by coniferous forests.
The Lviv Regional Council designated this 54-hectare area as a protected natural monument on October 9, 1984 to preserve the river source environment.
Local communities along the Dniester banks maintain traditional fishing methods and agricultural practices that connect them to the river's resources.
Visitors can access marked hiking trails near the river source between spring and autumn, with several observation points offering views of the Carpathian landscapes.
The Dniester River flows through seven Ukrainian regions before reaching Moldova, starting from this protected source in the Carpathian Mountains.
