Витік річки Дністер

The Dniester River source is located at around 800 meters elevation in the Carpathian Mountains and is surrounded by coniferous forests. The water emerges as a small, clear stream flowing between moss-covered rocks and tree roots in this protected natural area.

This spring area was designated as a protected natural monument in 1984 to preserve the ecosystem around the river origin. The decision recognized the importance of protecting this region for maintaining the river source and its natural surroundings.

Local communities along the Dniester banks maintain traditional fishing methods and agricultural practices that connect them to the river's resources.

The best time to visit is from spring through autumn when hiking trails are easily accessible and the vegetation looks particularly lush. The marked paths cover varying terrain, so good footing and sturdy footwear are helpful.

The Dniester River flows through seven Ukrainian regions before reaching Moldova, starting from this protected source in the Carpathian Mountains.
