Statue of Marsupilami in Middelkerke, Bronze statue in Middelkerke, Belgium

The bronze Marsupilami statue presents a one-meter-tall figure with black spots and a long tail, standing along the seaside promenade of Middelkerke.

Belgian artist Josyane Vanhoutte created this bronze sculpture in 2009 as part of a collection celebrating comic strip characters in Middelkerke.

The statue represents a character from Belgian comics that first appeared in 1952 in Spirou and Fantasio series by cartoonist André Franquin.

Visitors find the statue on the sea wall near Paul Houyouxstraat, among seventeen bronze sculptures of comic characters spread across two kilometers.

The Marsupilami statue depicts a fictional creature with an eight-meter tail that performs multiple functions including mobility and self-defense in its stories.
